How Regard Works

Regard is run by our members for our members (see below); we have no paid staff or office. We do, however, have an email group or 'e-group' called Regard Online, where we can share regular news and views, and another e-group called Regard Chat, where members can talk about whatever they want. We also publish a regular newsletter and have this website. Click here for details of how to join us.

Executive Committee

Following the 2003 Annual General Meeting (AGM), we decided to restructure the Executive Committee (EC) so that each member is responsible for a different area of Regard’s work. (You can see a list of current members - for the year 2006-7 - and their jobs below, with details of vacancies.) This enables all Executive Committee members to represent Regard actively in a wide range of areas.

EC members report on their work each month to the rest of the committee via an e-group. The e-group is also used daily to exchange news, to report on active areas of work and to ask the rest of the committee for guidance. Alongside this, we meet quarterly in real life (usually in London), but you can still join the Executive Committee if you can't come to London meetings. Rather than have an office which is hard to access and difficult and expensive to run, we have therefore set up a ‘virtual’ system of working in which we can all participate.

We very much welcome new members of the Executive Committee. We are still striving to improve the access, particularly for people who have difficulty with email, so if you want to join the committee but have difficulty with email, please don’t be put off. Email secretary@regard.org.uk for further details.
